Top 10 Healthy Snacks for Your Busy Day

Nothing is worse than getting hungry in the middle of the busy day. Temptations are high, and its so so easy to grab an unhealthy and ultimately unsatisfying pastry.

This is a list of my favorite healthy snacks to take on the go to deal with all that afternoon hunger. And mid-morning hunger. I get hungry a lot.  Trust me, these healthy snacks will boost your energy and keep you feeling full and satisfied.

1. Edamame

Healthy-Snacks-3Edamame is high in protein and fiber, and that makes it the perfect healthy snack.  At about 80 calories per cup (in the pod), these are also pretty guilt free.  Bonus for using popcorn seasoning from The Spice House. My favorites are the Vulcan’s Fire Salt and Cheddar Cheese Powder.

2. Chia Seed Pudding

Chia Seed Pudding is a sweet and delicous healthy snack. Chia seed pudding is all the rage. Check out some of my favorite Chia Seed Pudding Recipes. Chia seeds are an amazing source of protein, fiber and other nutrients. This snack is super easy to take on the go, and will keep you satisfied and happy. It also doesn’t hurt that these little puddings totally taste like dessert.

3. Pistachios

Pisachios are a great healthy snack. Pistachios are high in protein and healthy fats. The hardest part of eating this snack is avoiding eating too many. One serving size is about 50 pistachios, and is about 165 calories.

4. Nut Butter and Anything

Apples and nut butter make for a satisfying and healthy snack. Nut butters are high in protein and healthy fats. I usually spoon a couple tablespoons into a mason jar to make this snack more portable. I like to enjoy with sliced apples or veggies.

5. Jerky

Sriracha Honey Turkey Jerky is a healthy snackNothing could be more low carb than turkey jerky. Look for a healthy option that is low in fats and sodium. My favorite is Think Jerky. Find out why here.

6. Low Fat Cottage Cheese

Low fat cottage cheese is an easy and portable healthy snack. Cottage cheese is high in protein, fiber, and calcium. I tend to enjoy mine with green onions, or some diced pineapple.

7. Fresh Mozzarella and Low Fat Salami

Fresh mozzerella and low fat salami make a tasty healthy snack. Belgioioso is making the greatest cheese snack pack. It is a little 70 calorie package of fresh mozzarella heaven. I pair this with a couple slices of reduced fat salami for a super satisfying snack.

8.  No Bake Energy Bites

Grab a couple no bake energy bites as an on the go healthy snack.

9. Olives and Almonds

Mixed olives with smoked almonds are a healthy snack!

Olives are filled with healthy fats and antioxidants, and almonds are a great source of plant based protein. Mix these two together for a sophisticated and healthy snack option!

10. Veggies and Hummus

Homemade Hummus and Veggies is the perfect healthy snack!

Chickpeas (a.k.a. garbanzo beans) are a healthy source of plant based protein, and when they are blended into hummus they transform into an easy and healthy snack to take on the go!
