One of my favorite things about summer in Chicago is food festivals! This past Saturday I attended the Chicago Sausage Festival in Old Town. There were several different sausage vendors to choose from, and we ended up settling on Haute Sausage. We tried the buffalo chicken sausage (on the right) and the bacon guacamole sausage (left). Both sausages were juicy and had a great flavor. The bacon guacamole sausage was infused with cheddar cheese, and topped with guac, Merkt’s cheddar, and a spicy chipotle mayo. The buffalo chicken sausage was topped with blue cheese, a drizzle of buffalo sauce and some thin slices of celery. These sausages were not exactly cheap, but they were cooked perfectly and the mix of flavors from the toppings made these some of the best sausages I have had in the city. The only issue was all those delicious toppings made these a little tricky to eat! You can try these sausages for yourself by tracking down the Haute Sausage food truck, or by going to their brick and mortar location in the loop on Van Buren and Franklin.
